Convergence Insufficiency

This muscle condition causes the eyes to drift outward, resulting in strain or blurring, double vision and/or headaches. Symptoms may appear in school-aged children as they have trouble reading or participate in any other projects or sports requiring eye coordination.

Diagnosis
The 20/20 eye test is not an adequate tool to diagnose Convergence Insufficiency. An evaluation by an ophthalmologist specialized in this condition is strongly recommended.

Treatment
Convergence Insufficiency may be detected and treated at any age. Special eye exercises usually are beneficial and sufficient. Surgery is rarely recommended.
